KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 16: A prosecution witness in the sodomy trial involving former PKR staff Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan has testified that he did not find any evidence of penetration on Saiful as claimed. Dr Khairul Nizam Hassan, the head of accident and emergency unit at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) made the admission when asked by Karpal Singh, the lead counsel for Anwar Ibrahim, who Saiful accused of sodomising him.
Dr Khairul who said he examined Saiful on June 28, 2008, said he did not fill up the proforma report on physical evidence such as torn muscles and bruising of the anal like what was normally done for sodomy inspection. He also defended that what was written in the proforma report which had only stated attempted sodomy and oral sex, contradicted what Saiful had told the medical team that he had been sodomised and forced to perform oral sex. According to Khairul, the conclusion on the proforma report was made based on the forensic department’s report and the questions in the document was filled by another witness, Dr Siew Shueu Feng. Last Monday, Khairul told the court that he had taken a swab sample from Saiful’s mouth as the complainant had alleged that he was forced to perform oral sex. In an immediate response, Anwar reiterated that the case must be dropped as the doctors themselves contradicted their report with Saiful’s complaints. |
