KUALA LUMPUR: Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali has taken Barisan Nasional Youth chief strategist Foo Seck Chyn to task over the latter’s comments.
Calling on Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin to reconsider his decision not to contest in the next general election, Foo said the former had the potential to improve the country’s political scene because of his strong opposition towards Ibrahim’s extremist remarks.
Noting that Khairy had changed tremendously since the last general election, Foo said: “He is firm on his stand and is strongly opposed to the extremist Malay supremacy remarks by Ibrahim Ali.”
Reeling with anger over the remarks, Ibrahim lashed out, calling Foo an “idiot of the highest degree with no brains”.
“Who is he to call me or Perkasa extremist?” he said.
“What about some MCA and Gerakan leaders who are also extremists? They support demands made by Jiao Zong, Dong Zong and Suqiu, and make racial remarks. We have proof of this,” he added.
The independent Pasir Mas MP stated that it was Khairy’s decision whether or not to contest, and the BN chairman’s decision in the selection of candidates.
He pointed out that if the Chinese supported Khairy then the latter, who is currently the MP for Rembau, should contest in constituencies with 70% of Chinese voters.
The Perkasa boss also snidely suggested that Foo then be elected as the candidate’s representative or campaigner.
“I think the change in Khairy that Foo referred to is related to Malay issues,” Ibrahim said. “Those who fight for Malay issues or defend Article 153 of the Constitution are branded as extremists.”
“And those who support vernacular schools and to get rid of the New Economic Policy are not extremists but so-called ‘Malaysians first’,” he said.
“So we are not Malaysians even though we are the indigenous people who have lost a lot just to accommodate these so-called ‘Malaysians first’,” he added. - FMT
