Zambry told to replace soon-to-retire Khairy

Harakahdaily
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27: Perak Menteri Besar Zambry Abdul Kadir has been urged to seriously consider contesting for the UMNO Youth chief following the decision by Khairy Jamaluddin to quit active politics.

The proposal was made by UMNO's Larut division chief Raja Ahmad Zainuddin Raja Omar who described Zambry as someone capable to make the wing "stronger'.

Raja Ahmad said Zambry, who became the Perak MB following the infamous coup in 2009, had “vast experience” and “ability to influence and determine the direction of UMNO Youth”, adding that UMNO Youth is currently in need of someone with credibility and who was vocal.
He was quick to add however that he did not mean to belittle the current UMNO Youth leadership.
“I am proposing this not for personal reason but as an opinion to strengthen the UMNO Youth, as well as the interest of Barisan Nasional as a whole,” Bernama quoted him as saying.
Before this, Khairy had signaled that he might be taking some time off from politics and hinted he would step down as both Youth leader and Rembau member of parliament.
Some analysts however had opined that Khairy "knew what was coming" and as such was forced to 'pre-empt' any decision by the Najib administration to sideline him in the next general elections.
Khairy also had discussion with the UMNO president, but refused to revealed what transpired, saying "It's a matter between the Prime Minister and me".
