You can’t avoid race and religion when it comes to Malaysian politics and elections. Johor is an Umno ‘fortress’ and therefore difficult for the opposition to penetrate.
Furthermore, unless the opposition can swing the Malay votes it would not be able to dislodge Barisan Nasional. And FELDA, just like the Orang Asli and natives of Sabah and Sarawak, are Barisan Nasional’s ‘fixed deposit’. But is Tenang the yardstick for nation-wide sentiments?
